Among the distinguished collection of Persian carpets preserved at Niavaran Palace, two exceptional examples were produced by the renowned Seirafian Carpet Workshop of Isfahan. Established by Haj Agha Reza Seirafian, the workshop gained international recognition for its uncompromising standards of craftsmanship, the use of the finest natural materials, and close collaboration with master designers and highly skilled weavers.

The legacy of the workshop was continued by his sons, most notably Haj Mohammad Sadegh Seirafian, who maintained the artistic and technical principles of the founder while introducing thoughtful innovations that further enriched the family tradition. Seirafian carpets are characterized by the exclusive use of natural fibers, including silk and fine wool, dyed with natural pigments, and by designs rooted in classical Iranian artistic traditions, particularly those of the Safavid and Shah Abbasi schools.

The two Seirafian carpets on display at Niavaran Palace include an Isfahan rug featuring an arabesque medallion composition and an Isfahan carpet with a domed panel design, both regarded as outstanding representations of Isfahan’s distinguished carpet-weaving heritage.
