Jahannama is the full name given to the southwestern section of Sahebqaranieh Palace Museum, which was prepared in the 1950s to exhibit artworks donated to the Pahlavi dynasty or acquired by the royal family, only for occasional visits.
The museum spans four galleries on the ground floor and one in the basement. It takes its name from the former large, ornamented hall of Sahebqaranieh Palace known as "Jahannama."This museum houses artefacts from diverse cultures and civilisations worldwide, including relics from ancient Egypt, potteries from the Andean region, 2nd-century Buddha stone sculptures, and potteries from ancient Iranian sites dating back to the second millennium BCE.In addition, valuable modern artworks by renowned Iranian artists such as Parviz Tanavoli, Sohrab Sepehri, Faramarz Pilaram, Bahman Mohasses, and others are displayed alongside works by influential 20th-century masters such as Picasso, Dali, Renoir, Gauguin, and more—artists who have left a lasting legacy on the history of modern art.Indeed, within this compact space, a world unfolds. Visitors can trace the evolution of human emotion, creativity, and instinct, beautifully reflected in the transparent showcases of Jahan Nama.Following the Islamic Revolution, the museum was officially opened to the public in 1993, welcoming all those interested in the history, culture, and art of the world.
